(Dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the death of John Leonard Taylor, my Poppy)
It’s been four years
Since you’ve been gone
It hasn’t really seemed
To have been that long
Each year I remember
What it was like back then
And how it felt
To lose my very best friend
But time goes by
As I’m sure you know
And within four years
There has been room to grow
Like a regal flower
I blossomed and grew
Shedding the old
Accepting the new
Although I still miss you
With each day gone by
I can write these words
And no longer cry
Time heals all wounds
At least that’s what they say
Yet I still remember you
In my very own way
I know you’re still with me
And I’ve accepted you’ve gone
I hold on to your memory
Like a sweet country song
Forever and ever
You will be in my heart
As I know one day
We will no longer be apart
I hope all is well
And you’re happy where you are
Because now, four years on
You’re still my shining star
