Fallen Angel

She’s a fallen angel who has given herself up

To everything nobody expected her to be.

She just wants things to be the same

Just like they use to be.

But it feels like it’s too late for that,

It’s too late to go back.

It’s painful to look and to remember

Everything she believed she would be.

Some pitiful excuses and drugs to numb the pain.

She can never go back

Never like it use to be.

The words are haunting her, swarming all around.

The voices in her head tell her she’s all alone.

All Alone.

The light shines for the first time

She tries to look up but it’s too painful.

Too Painful.

She stops thinking of what could be

She pretends this is what she wants to see.

The future is written in stone it

Can’t be erased and she can’t be bothered

To realize it’s written in chalk.

She closes her eyes as she blows out the candle

And sits in the corner and cries

Because the pain is too much for her to take.

She’s alone.

So Alone.

Nobody can hear her screams as

She kicks and smashes her fists against the wall,

Against the glass table that held

The lines of coke, the hits of E and the bottles

Of alcohol that made her feel alright.

She looks at her hand as blood pours down her arm

And for a minute she smiles,

Realizing she’s still alive.

She’s a fallen angel who has given up on herself

A fallen soul that just wants to fly so high.
