Nothing But A Heartbeat Memory

Folder:
Love

For the moments we talked on the phone

shared our thoughts and opinions

I swore I could hear your heart beating

faster with each word.

When we walked side by side

and you looked into my eyes

I think my heart stopped beating

as a smile slowly formed.

I never thought you'd leave me

it's like you never cared.

I know I was the person

who wanted a little break

but it broke my heart inside

when you would never call or write.

I'm not sure what had happened

but I never let you go.

Something deep inside me died

like the lights slowly dimming,

Like rose petals falling on the floor.

I yearned for your voice

to comfort me on the phone.

I tried to forget your memory

And ignore your beautiful soul.

But I can’t stop questioning....

How can you deny your heart

and try to make believe

that what we had was nothing

and nothing will ever be.

We've all been there one time or another abandoned and crying, a heap of tears on the floor. Very good poem
