Epigram On Lady Certainly's Beauty As Inspiration

[to Lady Certainly]

Others might see her as a sacred book
inscribed only to the adept elect
for whom a passing glance or longer look
discloses this unusual aspect
(and, with it, the more manifest effect
described without the least perversity,
in rhymes and measures, as my poems repeat)---

the perfect beauty of her stockinged feet,

shyly revealed in causual shoelessness.
To this end, this part of my poetry
is dedicated---solely to express
(with ardent and abundant evocation)
each random or intended variation
that my desire transforms to inspiration.
