Epigram On A Young Girl's Choice Of Stockings

Such unflawed sheerness---not meant to conceal
your legs, but rather subtly to reveal
their beauty---that embodies the Ideal.
Such are the privileged processes of Art,
to make a whole out of the given part
(beyond what time or temper can abuse).
Stockings this lovely need no kind of shoes.

And to preserve the modesty of them,

your skirts' style has an almost floor-length hem.

Starward

Author's Notes/Comments:

The last line is a variation of a remark my eldest daughter, Amy, made when she was about thirteen years old:  "Shoes don't belong on socks as cute as these."
