The Love I Feel

by Elizabeth Van Cleve (August 27, 2013)

Caring Facebook comments

from those I've never met

alongside those I have

whose eyes I shan't forget

Prayers, texts, and messages

a card from one new friend

offers me support

and wishes that I'll mend

Small cheery marigolds

delivered to my door

When I heard who gave them

I knew what they were for

Another sweet phone call

reminds me of how pained

I feel, but can't ignore

my brother's life has waned

Sitting in my kitchen

one thought to be a foe

speaks with kindess and leaves

a kiss when time to go

The big house seems quiet

except for sobs from me

I know that it takes time

to heal on bended knee.

Author's Notes/Comments:
