The Pursuit.

Everything begins, too good to be true.
Effort is used, people sacrifice for what they pursue.
When finally they have won
The thing they wanted, they think they're done.
The trying is over or so they thought
They have their prize, so pursuing is done, is it not?
That is the biggest lie to be told,
For if you quit trying, your prize will grow old.
What you've won can be lost or taken away
If you don't spend time shining it everyday.
So take heart to this my friend,
Even though you've reached your destination your journey has no end.
Don't take forgranted what you have found,
Or else forever, it will not be around.

Just simply beautiful...............

and I agree totally. The love a couple shares is a tiny little precious candle light and they must protect that flame from any harsh atmosphere. For once that flame is allowed to be blown out. It is very very hard to get it lit again. So many come to realize this far too late even when they are long ago warned of such possibility. You said that so eloquently. Kudos to you dear lady poet................ Sincerely, Melissa
