My absent mind longs
For purpose
In this land of white washed brains.
In schools chanting education and change
While its fatal flaws, force it to stay the same.
I stare in disgust with silent thoughts
Hiding them within the lobe of brain.
Hearing much and telling little.
With the whispers a flutter.
Masking true thoughts with an idiotically goofy face.
Those who see through may be shown
While the oblivious are shunned.
Parents saying I’m intelligent, full of pure benevolence
True or Naw? I wish I knew
All that’s known is…….
My skin is brown and that the sky is blue

"Well, it's love, but not as we know it."
This was just beautiful..............
You really captivated this reader. Do share more and keep your very purposed depth. That is a gift and a tool you can use in writing to your best advantage. Share all the layers of your quote unquote brown self with others. I was very moved by your words and you ended your poem perfectly, in my opinion. Sincerely, Melissa Lundeen.
Thanks!
Thanks, for reading and commenting on my poem. Maybe one day my work will be as good as yours. I read a couple of your pieces and they were awesome.
