I AM A RIVER

                        I go through big cities

                        I go through small towns.

                        factories and farms.

                       highways and railroad tracks

                         mountains and hills

                       fields and meadows.

                         prairies and plains.

I am in the east, west, north, south.

I go on for hundreds of miles or thousands of miles.

         I am a river.  I am a river.

I flow and flow and flow.  I go and go and go.

            I want everybody to know.

            All day.  all night.

Week after week.  Year after year.

Minute after minute.  Hour after hour.  The power.

            I am a river.  I am a river.

I proudly flow.  I want everybody to know.

            You can watch me go.

I proudly sing.  These words all.

In every winter winter and spring summer, fall,

                I am a river.  I am a river.

I can be very short, or very long.  I can be weak or strong.  I can flow for miles and miles and miles.

I flow to the Atlantic.  I flow to the Pacific.

I flow to the Gulf of Mexico, or a bigger river.

I have names like Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Platt, Hudson.

      I am a river.  I am a river.
