DEAR NANA

Folder:
GRANDPARENT POEMS

                      Dear Nana,

I am just sitting here, thinking about, and remembering you.  A great granmother you were to me.  A great grandmother you were to me.  I remember the places we went, I remember the things that we did.  We really did a lot.  I really had fun.

I remember Salem.  How could I forget Salem!  I remember seeing you at your apartment building, there.  I remember going out to places with you, such as McDonalds and other places.  I remember playing in the playground they used to have.  There was a climbing structure shaped like a hamburger.  A climbing structure shaped like a hamburger.

"The balloon went pop against the pavement!"  I remember being in the car, and hearing you say this line to my sister.  I did not see it, but I guess it did.  What a great way of dealing with situations you had.

I remember Salem Willows!!  In the first place, there was a tilt a whirl, a roller coster, it was a small roller coaster, with a small hill, and a helicopter ride.    Down the street there, there were other things, there were more rides, at least a boat ride, and a video arcade.

Family parties.  I remember family parties.  The cake.  The ice cream.  The presents.  I loved to walk around, and see what everybody was doing.  Everybody did different things.  There were parties for Christmas.  There were parties for birthdays.  I loved them.  Sometimes, they were at our home.  Sometimes, that were at Aunt Doris's home.

I remember the parties that we had at hotels for you.  They were fun.  They really were.  One was after I got to high school.  I know, because I remember the kitchen being like my high school kitchen.

I remember being in Brookline with you.  I remember playing outside in the driveway on the big wheels.  I also remember being in my room, and playing with my hot wheels car playsets with you.  Two sets could be connected to create an even bigger set.  "We are having fun," you said.  You were right.

A tear drop from my eye, a look up to the sky, a prayer to heaven for peace and eternal happiness.

The memories.  The memories.  The memories.  The memories are going to last me a lifetime.  I thank you again.  You were a great grandmother.

                 LOVE ETERNALLY,

                 Chris
