I stand there and wait with you
You are the fresh air in a world of greys
And dirty sidewalks
We wait for that red 5 with headlights
And it comes, too quickly
I am wiping away tears on my face
You are kindness in a world of harsh words
And bitter grudges
And we sit silently
For our eyes speak louder than verbs
Or vocal cords ever could
And we find our way through the darkness and gloom
To a place of solitude and truth.
And I am white in a sea of black and greys
And dark blue skies
And you are color to my eyes
After blindness for so long
I am seeing for the first time
And yet, Not hearing.
Blind in a deaf world
But I'm starting to see
A different kind of beauty I've never known before
And we stand there and wait together
Hands linked, eyes searching
I sign and you smile,
Lighting up the entire station.
A kiss before we depart
And I am white again,
In a sea of black and greys
And dark blue skies
