Millions of years ago, before our earth was created the Leader of all Gods requested a meeting, a meeting where all Gods should gather. Millions of Gods attended, each representing their single specie of animal. Each God took his time to speak about the problems their specie was experimenting. And each god expressed his or her specie request to the God Leader, most of the complaints where the same: Animals felt boredom, their life was a routine and animals wanted excitement, adrenaline, passion, fun and learn new things; After millions of gods had took their turn to speak the God Leader interrupted:

So you all want excitement? You all want something else?

Everyone nodded.

Why don’t we create a different planet? Lets make an experiment! Why don’t we create a planet where all species can get to know each other and live together?

The other Gods where in shock, No God said a single word, but then the Gorilla God started to clap in excitement, the Elephant God was next to clap, the Lion Roared and shouted best idea ever.

All of the other Gods started clapping and shouting the Gods got very excited. The God Leader said that the experimental planet would be called Planet Earth, he started explaining that Planet Earth would contain everything necessary to make all animals survive: food, water, and many ecosystems, for all animal needs. The God Leader defined rules for survival, rules that talked about: Respect, work, ethics, food and survival. Species had their own variations of the rules, but all rules where to maintain the survival of the fellow animals, the last rule was, that the experiment couldn’t be stopped, no matter what happened, the experiment would never stop.

All Gods agreed, so the God Leader created planet earth. All animals started moving to earth, at first all the animals started to follow the rules and respect each other.

As time passed, the lion got greedy, he decided that what he wanted, more power, more respect. One day the zebra was eating in the place where the lion ate every day, at the time all animals ate grass and leaves, they where vegetarian, so the lion got mad, he roared with anger.

This is my property!

This is my food!

Get out!

Find your own place to eat!

The zebra replied

What’s wrong with you? Do you remember the God´s rules?

So the Lion answered back,

I don’t care what the God´s say this is my property not yours, not the Gods, so leave, NOW!

The Zebra calmly replied

You are crazy the land is for all of us, I can eat what and where I want, and you can´t do something about it.

The lion attacked the zebra and killed him, he felt extremely powerful, and he knew he could dominate the word. Soon after all animals started to fear and respect the lion, the cheetahs, the hyenas and leopards wanted the same power, same respect. They also started killing then they learned that they could eat meat from their preys;

They would never eat leaves again.

Some animals started to hide, others learned to defend themselves, but some others followed the lion and learned to kill. The elephant requested a meeting with the hippopotamus and the gorilla. The elephant told the hippo and gorilla that they should not get greedy, that indeed they where big and strong animals, but they needed to be smart and helpful for other weaker and smaller animals. So they did. Elephants, hippos and gorillas continued with their vegetarian diet, and they learned how to defend themselves and started defending fellow animals. Soon after, they started to have oodles of trouble with many violent animals. So they decided not to step up for other species in order to avoid harm to their own specie. Animals divided, each started only to foresee for their own specie.

Greed and Power won over the peace and happiness of all animal species on Planet Earth. Now fear lives among all of us, hyenas fight the lions for their power, rabbits and koalas hide for survival, and elephants and gorillas defend their territory. No animal live in peace, they all fear the attack of other animals. Many species got extinct from Planet Earth. Peace and harmony between species will not be seen again. Unless animals learn to coexist in harmony, leaving all hierarchies a side and mainly respecting, accepting and treating each other as equals.

The moral of the story is:

Greed and power destroys and corrupts all beings, in order to live in a harmonic and peaceful world we have to learn to respect accept and treat each other as equals, only the we will have peace.

As ex Mexican President Benito Juarez said, “Entre los individuos, como entre las naciones, el respeto al derecho ajeno es la paz” in English  “Among individuals, as among nations, respect for the rights of others is peace.”
