As I hold the handle
I perspire on the copper twist,
I insist that I've been here before,
Nights like this
are bred of nothing but bad choices
and horrible hosts who know better,
He's waiting there
Right on the porch about five or so feet away
casting a stare of ill intent,
"Welcome home",
He wheezes through short breaths
that gives way he's close to death,
"Imagine a world
without you there to bare
the burden of breathing this air,
I can almost taste it",
His words hit me like X-Rays
I'm transparent so to say,
I release my grip
and resume my departure
from this house of ill omen,
Where I've stumbled is far
from where I once was,
How soon I can become so lost
When every where is far from home
I love your expression in
I love your expression in this....the imagery is good but the choice of words get the message across fantastically.
"Gratitude"

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."
"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "

wow i don't know why and I am
wow i don't know why and I am pretty sure I on't even understand what this is about, yet I found myself mouth open breathing one word then the next unable to stop, and the poem left me with all these emotions I have been trying to ignore all day, just sitting there slightly below the surface, close enough to be aware, but far enough to not be felt

It's a poem about your past
It's a poem about your past and how far you've come and even the bad habits or reflections of self through different avenues. I reflect often on what could of been but maybe it would have landed me in trouble and the constant contemplation to revisit these decisions. Thanks for reading!
