Knuckle Sandwiches

I'll carve creation on stone

Stuck there it may erode
But before my last breath
And maybe many years after
I'll sit with it and dream wildly,
I'm always waiting on love
No matter how many times
I feel my heart collapse
It regains footing for more hurt
In brand new pump sneakers,
If I could carve a name on stone
Would it be my own?
In vanity I would try
But in duality I wouldn't even bother
When I care too much already,
Rock steps lead to regret
In a sturdy part of the city
Where a young guy like me
Might find an old tavern
To think up a brain storm of foundation,
To come clear as grain alcohol
In a dirty glass unabashed
To save my soul by midnight:

Ride on you Paul Reaver

I could slump myself way down
And draw a crowd of eyeballs,
So suspect me a lesser evil
Than I've been as of late,
Calloused in thought
Delayed in rotting bodies
Reading Monte Cristo
Wondering where time flows
I've fallen in deeper than I'd like to admit,
Left too much liquid on the skin
For the pours to accept,
To start the in depth inquisition now
would wire me up in puppetry
A surplus need of gizmos
Might subdue me sans electronics
Or ruin the very best of the cowards
Riding off in cavalry
For knuckle Sandwiches

Absolutely brilliant!

I truly believe this is one of my favorite poems written by you to date. amazing work chadical.I really felt like you cracked yourself open like a book and turned to one of the most important pages of you to let me read it for myself. One tiny thought about the line 'Let too much liquid on the skin' don't you think it would read better if the word let was left? Just a teeny tiny tweak, the poet editor in me can never long be quiet but otherwise this was to me a truly perfectly constructed poem. Bravo oh and encore always of course..........most sincerely, your fan, Melissa

P.S. I'll definitely read more!

Good idea! I had to fix a few other typos so I went ahead and used that spot of advice as well. Thanks for reading!
