Running,
in backwards motion,
trying breathlessly
to catch up
to what has passed me by,
what has left me standing
in tomorrow's shadow.
but those days
are long gone.
Now only memories
of mere visions
that grow fainter
with time's momentum.
There's no returning
to 'what has been'.
Yet still,
I travel backroads
that lead me nowhere
in vain attempt
to stay their course
once more.
Chasing yesterday
is futile
and only serves
to bring me,
full-circle,
right back to
today.
I like this poem, I too am hopelessly trying to chase yesterday.
