In that awakening moment,
experience,
has taught me well,
how to gauge in degrees,
what the day has in store,
by the amount of pain, present.
On a day, such as this-
cloudy, damp and rainy,
I know enough
not to expect this one
to be easy.
On a day, such as this,
I move slowly
through routine-
a thirty seven year old woman,
in a ninty seven year old woman's body.
On a day, such as this,
my idea of fun,
consists of the bed,
painkillers and a good
sense of humor.
On a day, such as this,
often,
I wish that yesterday,
was my last day,
ever.
