Sussex County Fair

Family & Memories We loaded up the car,
all excited to get there.
It was time once again,
for the Sussex county fair.
The children's eyes were wide,
as the fairgrounds came in site.
For the colors were so brilliant,
from all the carnival lights.
There was so much to do,
and so much more to see.
It was hard to keep them quiet,
they couldn't contain their glee.
Exhibits lined the tents,
blue ribbons on the best.
We looked at them in wonder,
comparing them to the rest.
The odors of many foods,
mingled all about.
And from the crowded midway,
you could hear the barkers shouts.
With great excitement we watched,
one of the livestock shows.
As youngsters from the 4-H Club,
lined their animals up in rows.
High on the ferris wheel,
we looked down at the crowd.
Wanting to do as much as we could,
in the time that was allowed.
As the hour grew late,
the time to leave was near.
And we left already dreaming of,
the county fair next year.
