'No Tresspassing'
tattooed across soft skin
-warning label.
Barbed wire,
snaked around her heart.
Keeping out the uninvited.
Locked chains dragging
behind her feet,
in rhythmic tapping
to the heels
of black leather boots.
Dark eyes dart.
Wary, watchful,
untrusting.
Lips curled into false smile
of bravery.
She walks on through rains,
torrents,
storms.
Every now and then,
her hand reaches,
to still, hard beating heart.
Only to be cut to bleeding once more,
on the barbed wire she placed there
to protect herself.
