My first child,
It seems he was just born.
As I look through the boxes,
of the tiny clothes he had worn.
My first child,
and now he's taller than me!
He's now the young man,
that I dreamed he would be.
My first child,
How could I ever know?
How joyous it would be,
Just to watch him grow.
My first child,
All too soon, I must send him out.
To the big and scary world,
That I still haven't figured out!
My first child, Matthew,
as you go on your way,
Know that I love you,
each and every day!
