Water Under Glass (or: Portrait of a smiling man whose soul never got the joke)
I love to hear the rain on the roof
Especially at night
When I'm alone
And happy
And the house creaks to answer sighs I haven't even breathed yet
So I'm not alone
The world is here
And we're both happy
I'm gonna stay awake tonight and listen to the rain I watch the drops slide down my window, each one following the last one's path They're so quiet
I can barely hear them breathe
Behind them I see my smiling reflection, but
They make me look like I'm crying
They remind me of that portrait Dali never painted and all the tears
I've saved for just such a rainy day
I'm going to bed
