Pitter patter
The little splatters
Of rain on my window
Are all that matters
—these days
You really wanted her?
You can have her,
I won’t fight you
As this picture shatters
Into glass that reminds me of us
—sans trust
Fully armed to the teeth
Your barrel chested shriek
Clues me that I have some bills to pay
So you’ll excuse me if I leave,
I only suit you
When it suits you,
Does the truth hurt?
Then let it eat through
Until the bone dissolves
—until armor bares truth
Would if I could
Won’t—so I don’t
When you walk a mile
To make sure my seat stays empty
It makes me think I have more to give
However my powers are clearly latent
—Foul for the late hit
Tricks are in this trade
You exclamate
Then offer an exchange of station,
I pile on to the debt you carry
As if to do so would make us even
It won’t, so I pine on darling
To pretend it’s early evening
—I end the night with rough hands
—hard pours
—tall eyes and bed sores
—you tell me when now
—but all I hear is “more”
