Come to find out
It was all just rats inside of it,
—The engine I mean—
And when we finally cleared them out
We found they really made a home in there
There were pictures of the kids,
Little rats on bikes and birthday parties
Little cakes and party hats,
There was some pretty nice furniture too
Real antiques, mid century modern
Definitely wonder where they bought’em
They really gummed up the works
With all those Halloween costumes
Those football trophies
And those cozy sweaters,
I would regret not to mention
That they made that house a home
They made that engine purr
And left it with a little less tension
I parked the car out back
And waited for them to wander round,
Saw them settle in
And smiled as they hunkered down
