We Were Young

The summer came

When the gods of love and youth reign

And we worship the sun

And the blue skies

A girl and a boy

The girl and the boy

That girl and me

We stormed the sea

With poisidons feet

And beat back the rain

With the wind in her hair

We ruled the streets

In reckless style

Four wheels and our song

To empower us forever

We forgot the striving for the light

And slept in the dark

Wrapped in eachothers arms

And a starful of sky pitch

A little too strong for us to drink

Alongside those poets who sit with fire

And the never ending draught of star

We drowned out the noise

Of all the silliness around

And took to the house

When the rain finally beat

Our smiles

We were young

We wern't in love

We were stronger than that

We left that town

On separrate paths

Never to see one another again

We were young

We wern't in love

Our locks were too complicated

So much weight

It seemed wrong to be free so easily

We were young

We wern't in love

We were stronger than that

A lot colder at night too
