You're touched by angels and you're smiling in Heaven,
You never knew this world and in some ways I'm glad,
Because with the war going on ayou might have never had,
The future I wanted and had hoped for you,
I'd have been there threw your first steps and I'd have helped you to,
Stand up tall and be a good girl,
Grow into a young child and watched your hair curl,
Like mine does in the sun. I think you'd have looked like me,
Maybe not my skin though. No. You'd have been more pretty.
I'd have held you all night when you were tired or hungry,
And I'd have walked you to school down the same way that my Daddy,
Took me. You'd have loved him. He'd have been your Nonna-Big,
And because you were going to be around he'd finally killed the cig.
I'd have taught you to cook - we'd have pasta for tea,
And whilst watching Corrie - you'd feed it to me,
We'd play Mummie's and Daddie's and you'd be my Mum,
And we'd eventually get a house with a backgarden and run,
And shout and we'd play - I wonder if you'd like dolls?
Or would you be more of a tomboy and refuse to collect shells,
On the beach with me?
When your first love broke your heart I'd be the one that you came to,
We'd laugh and we'd cry and by God would we argue.
I miss all the things that we could've done,
I miss that you didn't live to see one,
I miss that you never even took your first breath,
And I miss that you're gone 'cause you're all I had left.
But you're touched by angels and now you're smiling in Heaven,
And I'll see you again and we'll be smiling forever.
