You Wonder Why She Never Stayed

She sits in the corner,

All she does is stare,

With her I-Pod on and her silky hair,

You wonder what it is that makes her stay,

You wonder who it was that put her there.

She's getting off the train,

With her hands clutching at his arm,

Her eyes are desperate to meet his gaze,

You wonder what it is that makes her stay,

You wonder why she puts up with the game he plays.

She's getting humiliated by him again,

And she puts up the walls that defend her soul,

Tears begin to form in her dreamful eyes,

You wonder what it is that makes her stay,

You wonder why she never cries.

You've just told her that you love her,

That you haven't stopped thinking about her since you first both spoke,

That he's so blind not to notice that way her lips curl when she begins to smile,

That you won't be like him or that other bloke,

That when you enter a room you make the day worthwhile,

That you notice every eyelash, or freckle or dirty look,

She gives to the wannabe preps when they try give her shit.

That you can imagine her bedroom eyes,

Because nothing can be as sexy as the ones she already makes,

When she's crying at his mistakes.

And she looks right through you,

Her lips don't curl and her nose doesn't crinkle, too,

Her beautiful yellow eyes engage with yours one last time,

You wonder why she didn't stay,

You wonder why she never stayed for you.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This one was written from experience. Some of it is about me and how other people view me. Some of it is about how a certain person viewed me. Some of it is about how another person made me feel and some of it is written because I think that I'm better than the people who made me feel this way. I like this poem.
