He Wept - John 11 28-40

He stood before the tomb of Lazarus,

His friend, - in mortuary linens wrapped,

He quaked and groaned and quivered for He was

Profoundly moved at His friends passing - and He wept.

Felt brutal separation’s cutting pain,-

Shared all bereaveds' nadir  experience,

When  comfort words sound hollow, void and vain,

And hearts' recesses gasp in turbulence.

But ere He brought the dead  friend into light,

He wished to feel, like any child of Eve,

Affliction,- sorrow, devastating blight,

and like His creatures feel the pangs of grief.

The essence of the  Holy Writ  is this :

Write this onto your heart - words are inept,

Death Slayer felt Himself the trenchancy

And sharpness of grim reaper’s  scythe-- and wept.

God weeps - He weeps and mourns a cherished friend,-

Death slayer weeps- weeps tears before He stepped

Before the sepulcher of Lazarus to extend

His hand to resurrect,- God  mourned and wept.

How can anyone add anything to a story all Christians have known since childhood? The answer is: A unique lady with an astonishing knowledge of scripture, and biblical history. One who amazes Priests, and parishioners alike, with her comprehension and beautiful words that always introduces some little known fact, or point-of-reference that lets us see the “old” in a “new” light. A master story teller, and poet. An astute student of Christian history with the knack for holding all segments of Christendom together in one group to enjoy her works. Her message of pure love, and devotion to Christ, and the Trinity blesses her with the ability, and her readers with the desire, to be as one in the pleasure of Christian fellowship, as she shares her gifts to the Father, with all of us. God bless you Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, what a beautiful piece of work... It tears me everytime I read about all the pain and suffering Jesus went through.. so that we may have life everlasting... Yet Jesus wept for those in pain.. and those who did not believe in him... God had to have wept himself having his son die for all mankind.. even though he could bring him back.. to see his son go through the pain of beatings and then death...
Beautiful, as usual from my friend who brings such beautiful poetry to life with her pen... God bless you Elizabeth.. Love you, Judy..
