He Walks on Stormy Seas

You make appointments if you need to meet

A doctor, or physician specialist,

Or a psychologist, to help get rid,

of problem deeply hid in fog and mist

It is expected that such  rendez -vous

Will help to find the trouble source and bare

The spot that hurts, so  doctors can pursue

The  treatment of the patient in their care.

But Jesus has for all of this no need,

Lo! It is  Him that does approach you first,

And any time you can with Jesus meet,-

The order is entirely reversed.

He calls and summons souls  persistently

Begs them  to let Him in to touch and  view,

And heal the wound and illnesses for free,

Without appointments or an Interview.

He comes head-on,- and without waiting long

In ante-chambers  of psychiatrists,

To assuage the hurt and right the  wrong,

And sooth past hurts that linger and persist.

Such tryst will spare sick souls the fallacy,

Of  couch, or trance, hypnosis  or seance,

To calm the surges  of the raging sea.

And  billows of the psyche’s  turbulence

Let this physician in  with faith and trust,

Commit to Him your soul with confidence

Commit your future, present day and past,

He’ll calm the squalls  and tempest’s  vehemence

He will not pass you by,  but  stop and hear

Your pleas that rise from dark  profundity,

But walk to His encounter without fear,

Who  calms the tempest and the raging sea.
