A Widow's Thanksgiving Prayer

I praise the Lord - Him who has given me

Life, and largesse and gifts in plenitude

Out of His fullness and benignity

I praise and thank the Lord - for He is good.!

Thanks unto Him and praise who let me meet,-

Encounter my dear spouse when time was right

The Lord  who in his love did stir and feed

A deep affection between groom and bride

For many years, kind Lord ,-you let him be

A husband caring, always by my side

And when you finally took him from me

It was to bless him with Eternal Light.

Thank you for precious years- thanks Lord and praise!

That on this earth walked my beloved spouse;

How marvelous your providence and ways

You bring your own into their Father’s House.

You keep profound affection’s candle lit

To  stay a- shining, luminous and bright;

Enduring  flame you feed and nourish it

From your own being, Lord of Love and Light!

I thank you for my life’s companion;

Take unto you my cherished spouse I plead,

And let us find in you reunion

When in your boundless love again we meet.
