Once a boy about 7 journeyed with his mother to the Grand Canyon as part of their road trip. Upon coming to a halt the boy immediately jumped out of the car to look at the panoramic view.
Excited, the boy said, "Mommy, hurry. Look at this!!!"
"...Look at this...look at this...look at this...," reverberated his voice.
The boy turned to the voice.
"Who's there?" he responded.
"Who's there?" called the echo.
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?" the echo followed.
Angry that this unknown voice mimicked his words like a child's game of copycat, he yelled several curses and each curse he made flew back to him. He grew upset. Afterwards he looked towards his mother who had just left the car. He gestured her to come over.
He whispered, "Mom, who is that?" To the vast, open sight he directed her attention to.
Perplexed, she paused a few moments to understand the situation and, finally, bent down to her child's height.
"Instead of saying all those mean things to it," she said, "how about may be you try telling it some nice things, okay?"
Staring out he shouted, "I love you!"
"I love you!" it replied. Delighted, he smiled.
Enthusiastically, "You're so good!"
"You're so good!" the voice copied.
Twenty minutes passed. Together, the mother and her son took some pictures to commemorate this part of their trip.
With one last look the boy cried, "Goodbye!"
"Goodbye!" pleased the voice.
And so they left.
*But, listen everyone, how true this story tells. For whenever we share a loving word to others, they may respond with a loving word of theirs, like an echo.
the ending line says it all..
