I
I find myself falling to where gravity takes me
and though I try to grope the air for a foothold,
falling faster I go.
My heart, the pearl, released from its locket,
separates itself from me.
I've left that pearl suspended on air.
Remembering made it explode to shards
that then shower, I taste that familiar bliss.
II
My last night here with you
under the Moon that pulls the tides for us,
in which we are forever laced together, our souls.
So as Icarus I fly tonight to touch the Moon
like the times we shared together from then
and place the precious heart on the sky's pedestal,
a carnation we've both cultivated.
Let me sing my song for you and kiss goodbye
since tomorrow I will not see daylight illuminate your face again.
I ask myself,
"What do shooting stars do as they fly into the chasm of the universe?"
III
The answer I don't know but I have no regrets.
I risked all of myself and now we are recorded in Time.
Falling faster I go within that broken, pearly shower,
under the same Moon that pulled the tides for us,
the one who, through memories, laced our souls together.
Look into the night sky when you're alone. I'm there.
Because I do as shooting stars do but with these words spoken:
"I love you, always."
Man, this was out of this world! I loved it! Very romantic piece. Thanks for sharing :)
That was simply amazing. Had me the whole way through.
