His real name starts with a "K"
but I nicknamed him "Ji Hoon," a Korean name instead.
He nicknamed me "Dodong Totoy."
I was really pissed off when someone I know
mentioned that to be a possible nickname
for me because "Totoy" in Bisayan slang
means "Titties" or "Breasts." LOL!!!
Because "Ji Hoon" is a silly, crazy, laid back guy
he'd tease me with that name
everytime we'd hang out when we had the chance.
Now that nickname haunts me!
Him born in the middle of May, and myself born in late June 1986, we're freakishly like twins!
Honestly.
Amazing we're only born one month apart.
How are we like twins you ask when we're not related at all?
He's three-fourths Korean-American and one-fourth Chinese.
I'm three-fourths Philippino Bisayan-American and one-fourth
"other" (mostly Chinese).
Can you believe that! The two similarities?
Three-fourths our own race and one-fourth Chinese?
Or how about that both of us think alike in many respects
even though we still have some differences.
Another one, we both love basketball and martial arts.
I studied Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kabudo
and him with Taekwondo.
He plays guitar and sings in his own band,
me the poet/writer/thinker.
(He'd come to me all the time because
he needed help making lyrics for a song
or to check for grammatical errors.
I said, "Hell no! Do your own work.") LOL!!!
He and I can get along extremely well
it's as if we're one person.
We have a feduciary friendship/brotherhood
so I watch his back, he watches mine.
I look up to him as an older brother because
I wasn't born with a brother at all.
As a little kid, I used to pray to be given
a younger brother but ended up with a sister.
Not what I wanted but hey, I had to deal with it.
Yet still wanting a brother remained many years later.
(I'm the older brother to my sister by the way.)
Although we have a height difference of four and a half inches, me standing at 6'00'' (six foot flat) and Manong "Ji Hoon" as 5'7 1/2'' (five foot seven and a half inches),
we have aspects of ourselves that complement each other.
In terms of maturity I'm the responsible one;
him the crazy, wild, immature, impulsive "maniac." Ha ha!
In terms of life he's the easy going guy
while I'm the serious one.
He's the prankster that can figuratively "slit your throat without knowing what's going on." LOL!!!
I'm the one that reacts with my own pranks for I
can get very vindictive.
Basically what I'm trying to say is
we "balance" each other out.
He's my mirror image when I look at the mirror.
Strange, we're like twins.
"The big little brother and the little big brother,"
a two of a kind.
Guess I'm just lucky to meet another "half" of me out there!
Hi
"Ji Hoon" meaning in Hindi "I am there" Congrats!
Your friend in Korea, is he on a mission impossible or
what?
Lots of friends and friendship.
Smile and take care
