Case Number 1: The Case of the Red Butterfly
A woman's voice suddenly shouts "Bill, don't kill me!"
In a quick second a gun shot is heard reverberating down the halls in the apartment complex.
A detective, upon hearing that his client has screamed, ran up the stairs (two to be precise) and came across his red haired client on the floor.
Several people stood next the dead body and a old magnum colored in crimson blood.
There was a mailman, a doctor, a teacher, a young child with her mother, and a elderly women in her late 70's shocked to find their neighbor dead.
The detective immediately knew who the culprit was.
He deduced the fact that one of these people must be the killer because:
1) When the detective reached the top floor, the killer couldn't escape through a window nor through any other room since all the rooms were apparently locked.
2) The killer couldn't escape through the stairs because the stairs the detective used is the only one that is in the building.
3) The killer definitely didn't use the elevator since the elevator today is inoperable.
4) The killer can't use the gun apparently because all the bullets were used to kill the women.
The detective summons the mailman.
"Come here sir, you're under arrest for the murder of Ms. Annie Butterfly."
The detective handcuffs the mailman and takes him into the police station.
Here's the mystery you must solve...
How did the detective know it was the mailman without thinking twice on the culprit and why?
