So many things, are done for us,

sacrifices made, most of which,

cannot ever be repaid.



The lives that have been lost,

families torn apart, the love that never dies,

but is oftentimes carried on alone.



No matter where you are from,

no matter whom you are,

somewhere, you are the entire world for someone,

when your time has come to an end,

their brightest days, all begin to dim.



Yet night and day, overseas,

so many men and women, brave and true,

sacrifice of themselves, they bleed and suffer daily,

for me and you.



They do it even though, so many fail to support them,

even though, with a callous disregard,

so many choose to insult them,

looking down on what they’ve won,

what they’ve given,

and what they’ve lost.



It isn’t about what you believe; it isn’t about moral ambiguities,

they’re men and women, sons and daughters,

wives and husbands, sisters and brothers,

brave souls devoted to our country,

dying for the truest cause.



This isn’t about a president, or his politics,

it’s men and women, like you and me,

suffering so far away, from the loves, they may never again see.



They do it in the name of their beliefs,

they do it to keep us free,

they do it out of a love, some of you can’t understand,

those of you with hearts that choose not to see.



They suffer for a cause, so many take for granted,

so we can all sit here at home, watching, while so many,

thumb their noses in ignorance,

blaming the messenger for the message.



This fight isn’t something they chose,

it isn’t something they enjoy,

but something that has to be done,

cleaning up this mess that others have begun.



Don’t blame them for doing as they’re told,

rather, support them for what they daily go through,

respect them for their bravery and heart,

mourn the losses of life, the worlds and loves that for so many,

have all too suddenly, grown dim.
