The Cycle The Circle

Folder:
My Poems

Sight and scent are the first,

Time will bring out the rest.

Mother, siblings, milk and warmth,

First impressions of the nest.

Chasing, fighting,

Jump and run.

Learning skills for adult life,

A wolf cub's school is always fun.

Pups grow quickly,

Learning more.

While grumbling young bellies,

Begin to roar.

Soon enough they learn to hunt,

Making forays from the nest.

Budding skills, based on instinct,

Soon are put to the test.

Wolf cubs are taught,

Encouraged and watched.

Learning is fun,

Even if the hunt is blotched.

Over winter pups mature,

Proficient hunters on the whole.

Lean bellies, whipcord muscles,

The harsh winter will take it's toll.

Spring time comes, lightening hearts,

Lifemates rejoice at newborn news.

Last year's pupr stay to help,

Or take a lifemate and leave in twos.

Thus the cycle is continued,

The circle of life turned once more.

But mankind destroys what nature has created,

If the cycle is broken, the circle shall be turned,

NO MORE!
