Autumn air
and chai tea lattes
while our breathe
clouds the air
warm against cold
you hold my hand
as we cross the street
and we wave at drivers
who just frown and stare
at our smiles
deliscious aromas
and full bodied wines
the candles are lit
and CBC plays soft classical
as we dip bread in oil
sprawled across the couch
with blankets and pillows
the lights turned low
watching movies with subtitles
and documentaries
out in the city
we push back shooters
calamari and burgers
and our friends laugh aloud
as you kiss my cheek
in the bedroom
the city is drowned out
by the sound of the obusform
gushing rivers
and thunder storms
coffee and bagels
as you read me the news
and I read you my notes
for the exam
you'll speed to get me to
and this is what we are
not without its imperfections
but full of surprises
similarities and differences
we just give it our all
and wait for tomorrow
