Buried

Folder:
2004

Is this how you pictured an end

Glass empty

Made ready for egyptian style burial minus the embalming

It's you who defied fate

For the face of a mere shadow

One who walks the halls without a sound

White lady with ink for eyes

She never had want to leave you

Alone without a guide

But for chance a wave did fall

She had hoped her lessons had held some weight

And yet you choose the lonely path

Where you writhe and scream inside

Ugly mirrored demon

Seen but through your two eyes

Your miracle babe, first breathe inhaled

A scream that mingles with your own triumph

You vow to give them much more than you ever had

Live life so much brighter and stronger

Then you ever did

Your mantra is twisted blame

You you you you you you you

And all the pages are filled with YOU

And all that hurts is caused by YOU

And all that cuts and strips and tears away is YOU

And never is the real offender apprehended

Sifted through your fingers

Without a word

For sand is silent as it washes to sea

It is only the waves that crash and swell and capsize

But if the sand had had a voice

It would've told the ocean

Don't take me

Today I read it in the rag

Obituaries line by line

Upside-down knife cutting pain swallowing gas chamber Starvation

No nature didn't claim you

Nor fate

For heaven isn't ready with your place

I can't help you no more no more

All I can ask is you prove yourself wrong

Learn to chant a different song

Slight shadow in the hall

Of a white lady with ink for eyes
