100th Poem

When I loved you

Everything felt different

A cold hand entwined in mine

The embrace of warmth and love

Wind whipping as we stood

And watched the world float by

When I loved you

Everything tasted different

I could run my tongue

Over salty, moist skin

Lick my hungry lips

For substance no longer there

When I loved you

Everything looked different

Colours were brighter

Sun illuminating your hair

Warm sparkle in your eyes

Now vision is impaired

When I loved you

Everything sounded different

The words that escaped

Soft lips were whispered

Truth and honesty and care

Sometimes I forget that

When I loved you

Everything was different

Remembering your face

Meant feeling life penetrate

While now it means uncertainty

As to what was real

...and what my mind made
