Wings spread wide

in triumphant pose!

as I began my

nights repose

and 'ere before my eyes did 

did close.

The book fell to the floor..

The dragon turned and

snarled as fast.

and saw from first page

to the last.

A tear in page and out 

he lept.

While I in bed so soundly

slept.

The dragon seems to have

read - ahead

and what he saw filled him

with dread.

To know that HE in pages

DEAD!

Left the book 

for my bed.

Though composed of word

and thought,

only precious moments

bought.

His glaring eyes

a volcanic sea,

wakened-roused then 

him to me,

opened eyes 

and at first to see

a dragon fade
