Mango Tree

In the courtyard of the three decade old house

Stood a mango tree ; a decade old

Grew up from a mango seed planted by a toddler

The tree is now huge ; grown to adulthood

For the old house it has done no good

The inhabitants thought of cutting it down

When evening comes and days end

Tiny sparrows perch and screech on its branches

Three years the mango tree has borne fruit

A shelter for the feathered friends

Fragment of the woods in the home;its loss I'll lament
