Anti Pollution

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scribbler bishu is again perturbed. He can't keep shut his qwerty. One of my esteemed neighbours had quite a number of trees in their backyard. One mango tree, two coconut palms,a betel-nut tree, a jackfruit tree and one lovely yellow buttercup tree. On their spreaded boughs during this time last year lovely colourful birds (including woodpeckers, robins & parrots) would perch & talk in their own merry languages.Their screechings were delightful & I used to spend long languid hours gazing at the trees, flowers & birds.

A few days back the neigbour decided to destroy the peaceful haven. Thick branches were mercilessly hewn off, put to dry in the sun alongwith the leaves to dry.The trees looked so pathetic and helpless !! No.. I had a hope that they would leave it at that & they trees would again grow. Unfortunately when the branches and leaves dried they set fire to them !!! The stupid fire burnt sadistically & almost all the trees including the pretty yellow buttercup plant were burnt to cinders !! I watched sadly the fire blazing like a devil and smoking like a dragons breath.

Mornings are not the same for me now except for the sight of a few lonely chirping sparrows and cawy crows. I must add that my neighbours are not absolutely stone-hearted. They have given shelter to a mother-cat with her three lovely kittens. I can see them play every morning sprinting merrily on the charred remains of yesterday.

The morning newspaper said there was some high level summit on global warming on. My daughter was having her breakfast while I was scanning the news. I said to her " Nothing is going to come out of it !! First ALL fossil fuel powered vehicles must be stpped for sale to individuals & public transport should be made more user-friendly." She was not very optimistic when I said that there must be a total ban on sale of cars. Her contention was "how could a person commute to his/her place of work?" I told her "what about the time when there were no cars?" ... "There'll be no progress".... I kept mum after that and ogled at Dennis,Hagar,Charlie and Who said what & What happened where and the picture of so many pairs of shoes.... This rubbish as usual from a trashwriter who has nothing better to do.....

Author's Notes/Comments:

The two coconut trees are well looked after... They yield plenty of big coconuts which are plucked and sold periodically.... The yellow buttercups don't pay money so......

Thank You Mr. Bishu Sir

for sharing this true story. You know how I love nature and this is a loss of great import. The poet has nowhere now to roost except in memory now. I'm sorry they destroyed the trees - hugz - Stella
