Twisted Views
Standing on my rare verandah looking through the iron mesh I perceived a tall coconut tree’s luxurious leaves lazily looking up to the sky and waving to the late morning warm sun. The view appeared special to my cataracted myopic sleep-furred eyes. Just behind the faraway tree, a dish antenna reflected Tv waves onto a microphone like gadget. The leaves sometimes bent towards the dish brushing it softly. The aluminum antenna was also the perch of a solitary crow. The crow craned its black feathered neck in all directions, inspecting the new high rises close by. From a distance of over 100 meters they seemed happy.
I wondered at the ability of the crow to move its scrawny neck so fluidly with its natural well-greased ball bearing. As a hexagenarian I have to think twice before moving neck to such precarious angles. The sight kept my eyes and mind occupied more than half an hour.
Next I moved to my shabby unkempt room’s front window whence I looked at a coconut tree embraced passionately in a vice-like grip by a money plant with big broad leaves with areas over half a square meter. Its stems are almost four inches in diameter!! The coconut tree’s stem was shrunken and shriveled, likely to collapse any day. Maybe the money plant kept it upright or the other way round.
A tiny colourful woodpecker was pecking into the crevices of the tall tree. Probably the antenna ,coconut tree, the crow are at peace as is the money plant and the other coconut tree. No… I don’t get coconuts plucked off the tree. When one or two coconuts fall off on their own, I gather them after hearing the thuds. Not very large but really sweet with only three table spoons of sweet water in them. Possibly the offsprings of the coconut tree and the money plant.
May they all live till the very end of eternity. However the sights kept me wondering about plenty of things which would probably eat bytes as well as readers brains. Gradually the sun climbed higher and I switched on the electric fan gearing myself for a really hot day ahead.
This is all I had to scribble mindlessly.
