Jungle.

Drops of water hitting my head and shoulders. The monsoon was early this year and being soaked to the skin was not strange any more. One gets used to many things even the machete for cutting ones way through the thick bush and liana becomes automatically a friend.

Snakes are a problem but if one is careful and keeps a sharp look out for such beasties one can avoid most of them. The noise one makes with the machete sends most of them sliding away. Spiders are not rally a problem most of which are hairy and quite a fair size. The bananas are their favourite hiding place and it pays to be extra careful when cutting a bunch from the plants.

It can be rather dark even on the sunniest of days, if one wears glasses it can be a nuisance not being able to see what is ahead of one. Wiping the lenses with a wet cloth is quite tricky it pays to keep a few packets of paper handkerchiefs in ones backpack

Grunting ahead of me warned me that wild pigs were somewhere in the direction that I was headed. Keeping a sharp lookout I saw the mother pig with about eight young pigs rooting and grunting. Should I make a detour or wait until they moved on. I did not have to make this decision as a wild boar ran grunting to where the sow and her young were feeding. The pigs ran off squealing and protesting with the wild boar chasing them.

It is never quiet in the jungle many birds are to be seen and the hum of the insects mainly mosquito’s makes quite a background noise. Glimpses of other wild animals were to be seen, common sense told one to move away from the more dangerous types such as the big cats. Tigers are not afraid of anything and will attack on sight.

Returning to the bungalow where I was staying for a week. I had a warm shower and dressed in comfortable garments with a long drink, letting the days adventure pass through my brain.

Spiders AND Snakes

I will avoid jungles. If my plane goes down in one I will die of fright at the first sight of a fair sized hairy arachnid. (Insert scream here). A person is known by what they fear. For me, all of the above. Tigers? To be eaten alive is a rational fear I think. Live long and avoid the jungle Bern. - I'm Just sayin' - Lady A

Spiders and Snakes.

Me too I must admit that snakes would scare me. Spiders that was my eldest Sister's problem. Her Husband she often woke up in the middle of the night because she had dreamed about spiders.. Have a spider free night and dream of something Nicer. Bern.
