Pathway to Nowhere.
Fairyland is well protected by Magic. Those that meant the Fairies harm were always taken care of usually by Her Majesty Queen Feeanna or by myself sometimes with the help of the Leprechauns. One day Her Majesty had what I considered a very good idea. Everyone approaching Fairyland with the intention of causing trouble would be guided by magic onto the path that goes to nowhere.
The path to nowhere was not to be seen; it just opened whenever any one meaning harm to the little folk entered Fairyland. Once on the path there was no going back. One just had to move forward. The path had at certain distances small rest houses. If one entered the rest house for a drink or to have a rest he or she lost all memory of Fairyland and found themselves somewhere on Dartford Heath.
One day I read in the local paper that a man had been found on Dartford Heath. The man had apparently lost his memory. He did not know his own name or where he lived. In fact he could not answer any of the questions put to him by the local Police. He was admitted into hospital. One day he asked for writing materials. His wish was granted and in fine copperplate handwriting he wrote down whatever came into his head.
The Doctors were very interested to read what the man had written. At first many meaningless phrases then came a passage where a new medicine for curing the common cold was written. The ingredients were herbs that could be found anywhere in the fields of Great Britain. One of the Doctors collected these herbs and made a medicine that really cured common colds. Now the man who had lost his memory wrote down other sentences one was practically a book on the birds of Great Britain all thought that the man was an ornithologist. (A person that has studied birds and their way of life.) Another chapter that the man wrote was on how to change base metals such as iron and other metals into gold. Now it was thought that the man was a metallurgist (Someone that has studied metals)
The man was kept in the hospital for over a year. Many were the things he wrote about and he caused quite a commotion among the Doctors and Staff of the hospital. I decided to try and visit the man that had lost his memory and went to the hospital and told them that I was missing a friend that had not got in touch for well over a year. I was taken to room where the man had been for over a year. I recognised the man immediately it was Mordecai the Magician. Now the story made sense to me. Mordecai had entered Fairyland to cause mischief and had found himself on the path to nowhere. He must have entered one of the rest rooms and drunken of the water. He had not only lost his memory but had proved that Her Majesties Path to Nowhere was fully functioning. Later I heard that Mordecai had been released from the hospital and no one has seen him since.
