Troll Nuisances.
The Trolls have engaged the Leprechauns to build a fence right around the thatched cottages where they all live. This did not upset anyone as the Fairies and the Pixies and all of the other little folk were quite happy to have nothing to do with the Trolls. Trolls are not only ugly but very argumentative and always happy if they can upset some one or other. The Leprechauns worked hard and soon a fence had been built around the Trolls housing.
A week later after the fence had been finished the Trolls got the Leprechauns to put a large flag pole in the middle of the now enclosed Troll space. Soon a strange flag was to be seen flying over what the Trolls called their territory. A gate had been built into the fence and painted in large sloppy letters were the words Troll-Land no entry. No one took any notice of the gate or its notice no one in their right mind would go anywhere near the Trolls. A strange smell came from the enclosure and in general no Fairy went near to the trolls.
A meeting was called and Fairies, Pixies and others came to the clearing by the old oak tree. One of the Fairies put this question to the assembled little folk. “Will the Trolls be allowed to fly their own flag which was very ugly and should the fence around their housing be tolerated.” Many were the heated discussions and it was finally settled that if the Trolls wanted to be on their own then they should be. One Fairy asked the Leprechauns if they would build another much higher fence around the fence that the Trolls had built. This new fence would have no entrance, which meant that the Trolls would be completely isolated. Once again the Leprechauns built the new Fence it was much higher than the fence the Trolls had, had built and there was no entrance.
For long time Fairyland was at peace no Trolls to upset the comings and goings of the other Little Folk. The Fairies still looked after the Trolls by sending them Fairy Cakes to eat and rhubarb wine to drink apart from this there was no mixing of Trolls and Fairies like there had been in the past. One day the Fairies noticed that the strange flag that the Trolls had hoisted had been replaced with a white flag written on the white flag in large red letters were the word Help all very ill.
This message flew around Fairyland and soon the Leprechauns had made a large gap in the fence they had built around the Trolls Fence. Fairy Doctors and Nurses came from the Fairy Hospital and even some of the professors from the Fairy University were on the spot ready to be of help. The Leprechauns made another large gap in the fence they had built for the Trolls. Soon Doctors and Nurses enter the Troll area. The Trolls through their carelessness had caught an illness that most children have at an early age it was the measles. Nurses and doctors all wearing rubber gloves and face masks over their mouths and noses went into each Troll thatched roof cottage and attended to the sick Trolls. While they were helping the Trolls the Leprechauns took down all of the wooden Fences and the Flagpole so that The Trolls were no longer isolated and help could be given as and when it was needed. For a long time the Trolls left the Fairies in Peace but they could not change their characters and the Trolls hatched many a new mischief out. Bern
