Another Hot Day.

He pushed her she tried hard to keep her balance but it was of no use. She fell in front of the Double Decker Bus. I ran forward thank heavens she was all right the bus driver mad managed to stop the monster of a bus. Together we saw the lady back to the pavement. I saw the man that had pushed her vanishing into a shop. Out with my handy phone a quick call to the Police and I went into the shop. I was just in time he tried to get out by means of the back door. I stopped him and told him that I was making a Citizens arrest and that the Police were on the way. The bus driver also came into the shop thank goodness he was a powerful man and together we held the man until a few minutes later a Policeman entered the shop. I told him of my seeing this man pushing the woman into the path of the approaching bus. The driver told the Policeman that he too had seen the man push the woman and had made an emergency stop.

The Police man took the man by the arm outside the shop two people were helping the woman; someone had given her a glass of water. The man that pushed the woman on seeing her called out next time you won’t get off so lightly. The Policeman took out his notebook and told the man that this was a threat spoken in he presence. The man now had two charges against him. Smiling at the woman the Police officer asked her if she knew this man that had not only pushed her according to these two witnesses but also his threat in my presence. Oh! Yes I know him that is my ex Husband, I divorced him two years ago. He threatened me then but I thought he was just angry at my divorcing him. The last I heard of him I was told that he had married another woman. Married another woman. The man exploded me marry again after living with you. I will not tell you of his language only to say that the Police Officer wrote each word in his notebook. The door opened and in came another Policeman. “Got the car outside who shall I take for a ride?” This is your Passenger he is charged with attempted Murder. Watch yourself he is a hot head. The new Policeman took from his belt a pair of handcuffs. He told the man to place his hands behind his back. The handcuffs held his hand and arms behind his back. Taking him by the arm the second Policeman led him out of the shop. The bus driver went back to his bus I escorted the Woman that had been pushed back to her home. I forgot all about the episode until a few months later I received an official letter telling me to be at the Court of Assizes. I was a Witness to a serious crime and my evidence was wanted.

At the court members of the press met me with many Photographers. Photos were taken and I was pleased when an official showed me where I was to wait until called to give evidence. What came next was a farce the Court was opened the prisoner marched in by two very big men then the woman that had been pushed. The woman was called to give the first evidence. She told the Judge this whole thing is a terrible mistake. I was not pushed by any one and the man in the Prisoners box is my husband to be. We are to get married as soon as this court sees that the whole thing is wrong. I say again I was not pushed. I know the Prisoner he has always been good to me why we were married for two years I should say we were happily married. The Judge told the woman to step down and I was called I gave my evidence. The prisoner pushed the woman in front of a double Decker Bus. I have no problems with my eyesight. I do not need Glasses and I am telling the truth. I too was told to step down. The Bus driver was called. He gave his evidence telling the judge that what he saw caused him to form an emergency stop. The Police officer that arrested the man now took the witness box he too had to swear an oath on the bible that he was going to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. This big man took from his pocket his notebook. He read out words that the females in the court blushed or hid their eyes. The police officer was also told to step down. The Judge told the Prisoner that he was to be locked away for six years for attempted Murder. The woman that told the Judge that she was going to marry the prisoner was advised to think about what she was doing this man will be locked away for six years. If he behaves himself he might be released after he has served two thirds of his sentence. I have decided not to press charges against you after all you were the one that was pushed and nearly landed under the weight of a Double Decker Bus. Go away from this court and think about what you have been through, When the prisoner comes out of Prison after serving his sentence what will his thoughts be? Will he blame you again and have another try murdering you. My advice to you is go and think about what this man has done to you it is only the quick thinking of the Bus driver that saw you being pushed and of his doing an emergency stop. You can thank this man’s acting so quickly that you were not crushed or killed or seriously injured. Case is closed. Take the prisoner away. I hurried home to scribble this down for you all to read. Me Bern your scribbler had to give evidence in a court of law. I hope that I will never be called again for such a duty, and no I did not learn any new swear words from what the Policeman had written in his notebook.
