Cherry Harvest.

The Fairies are excited the cherries are ripe enough to be picked. Many houses around Dartford Heath had gardens with a few apple and pear trees and some had cherry trees. It was these trees that the Fairies were referring to. Every year they went to these gardens and helped themselves to the odd cherry or two. The owners never knew about this stealing of their cherries, if the truth were known they did not realise that the Fairies were taking their cherries. It was not the cherries that they wanted it were only the cherry skins. These skins when cleaned and dried made wonderful rain coats when the weather was bad or shall we say when it rained. Apart from keeping their wings from getting wet when dried the cherry skins were light and it was possible for the Fairies to fly with these raincoats that were so light.

To the surprise of the Fairies not a cherry was to be seen on any of the trees. Disappointed and wondering where the cherries had got to many said the Humans had picked them all to make Jam or even those delicious cherry tarts. Others said no it was the birds they always grumbled when they saw the cherries being eaten by the birds. Others said that they had been plucked and had been taken to market for selling to the people in the towns All were to be proven wrong as they found on their way back to Fairyland.

Suddenly they saw that the Trolls and the Pixies had stolen all of the cherries and were only willing to give some to the Fairies if the Fairies granted them one wish Fairy after Fairy took with them our or five cherries after granting the Pixies or trolls a wish. The Trolls were all homesick for their cold lands in Scandinavia the Pixies wanted the Fairies to organise a dance for them on the heath. The dance was to be music from the Toad’s Orchestra and was to be held on the first of July also their was to be refreshments for the Dancers and for the Toad Orchestra.

Now it was the Fairies who had to persuade the Toads to play at this dance to be held on the first of July. Each Fairy had used their magic wands and all were angry at the cheek of the Pixies and the Trolls. The trolls found themselves in the middle of the Sahara desert in Africa where it is very hot. The dance was held not in the evening each fairy hat had granted the Pixies a wish had arranged with the Toads for the dance to be held at nine O’clock in the morning not in the evening.This was the Faries revenge on the Trolls and the Pixies this would teach thm not to take all of the cherries and use them for getting their own way over the Fairies.
