Welcome to Mars.

Take off was uneventful no crowds, no speeches. The crew all experts in their professions went about their work quietly and without any fuss. I sat at the controls checking the rows of instruments that told me exactly what was going on in all parts of the ship. We passed the moon that showed no signs of life. It was to all on board a dead planet. Only a few people knew that on the far side of the moon a station was being built with electronic telescopes the most modern of electronic cameras. Small spacecrafts with heavy weapons had been stationed here as a first bastion from attack from space. All was very hush, hush. The world’s population had no knowledge of what was going on behind the moon.

The arconic motors were humming away, the speed showing on my instrument was very hard for me to believe one hundred and fifty thousand miles an hour. If I had not pushed the space ship to its full top speed of two thousand miles an hour I would have been afraid that the vibrations would have torn the ship apart at this high speed.

Reports came in continually from all parts of the ship. All was running smoothly in eight months at this speed we should be approaching Mars on time.

The ships telescopes picked up the reddish surface of Mars. I reduced speed and flew round Mars keeping a good look out for any activity on the surface.

When it came the attack was sudden four rockets flew past the ship and exploded. The detonations were not to be heard in the ship itself taking evasion tactics, I gave orders for all of our own weapons to be manned by the crew. Nothing was to be seen on the surface of Mars. One of the telescopes picked up an opening, four rockets one after the other flew at high speed from the opening. The opening closed as quickly as it had opened. The rockets exploded this time a little closer then my crew opened fire on the opening that the telescope had made out. Our weapons were terrible and where the crew had fired a huge hole appeared.

Suddenly people appeared all waving white flags. I slowly landed the space ship and the people from Mars sent a delegation on board. They apologised for firing their weapons at our space ship. We were shown over their underground retreat. It was a well-kept town, clean water was from tanks deep under the town. Huge departments were set aside for growing plants, vegetables, and fruit trees. All being lit by huge lights high in the roof or covering of the town. I piloted our space ship back home with a few members of the planet Mars. Trade is flourishing and both worlds are at peace one with the other. My next trip is to Neptune. I invite you all to come with me on my next space trip. Bern
