Words of Wisdom?
It was my misfortune to have to listen to a few Politicians. Two from each Party I thought that I was not paying enough attention because I did not understand what the hell they were talking about. What I did get from these rather loud-mouthed songsters was one after the other praising the works of the one gone before. The first speaker fluffed on about generalities that I must say interested no one, at least not from the yawns and stifled yawns coming from all over the audience. Now I must admit I was in a quandary, I did not understand a word although they were speaking my so-called Mother Tongue. It could have been in the Chinese language I must honestly say it sounded like double Dutch to me and I suspect many others that felt compelled to listen to the ranting of these would be Politicians.
The applause from the Audience was very half hearted. If I had been given a speech and the only appreciation for my words were a few half heated claps I would have gone home and left Politics alone for the rest of my life. I must hand it to some of them praising the works of the speaker before them well even you the reader of this my rubbishy scribbling would have been lifted high into the higher spheres at such eloquence. How the camera’s in Parliament can show pictures of Politicians using lap tops or reading a news paper (that is if it is a Newspaper and not some sex book with pictures, wrapped up in a cover of a newspaper.) Am I being too hard on our overpaid and under worked Politicians? Am I not being fair to these half-baked idiots? Some of them are serious in what they say I would not like you to think that all are half-baked Nitwits. No, that would be doing perhaps a half a dozen an injustice I would not want that. I once had to make up an improvised speech in the school hall. My Audience, Boys from eleven to seventeen, if my memory serves me rightly. The nerves in my face showed the school that I was nervous. No not nervous I nearly shit myself. Then taking a deep breath I started speaking. I spoke for over a half an hour. What I spoke about I have no idea but as I finished, first a silence that one could have cut. Then the whole school including teachers and the Principal gave me a standing ovation. The hand clapping from all showed me that whatever I had spoken about it went home it was this that I missed from the Politicians. No sincerity, no real conviction about what they each said. I left the meeting very early, I do not mind wasting time but to waste time and listen to nonsense no not even I can take much of that.
Perhaps the Politicians in your country are different. Have you ever listened to them in your Parliament? Or try the local council listen to what sometimes comes from them. You will I guarantee have a good laugh. It might open your eyes and make you wonder why on earth you voted for that man, women or Party. Most people vote what Mum or Dad voted for and this goes on and on. It is time for each and every one of you to find out what makes a Party tick and then vote on that one or the other that makes sense to you as an individual. Less mistakes would be made. Less money would be spent on rubbish that no one wants or even needs.
Have I upset you all by my writing this. I hope so as long as it gets you thinking in time for your next election where as a good Citizen one does his or her duty as honestly and as good as one can. One more word of advice, really use the Brains that were given to you then perhaps we will get the right Governments ruling the country. That would be a marvellous change wouldn’t it now. Keep smiling I am Your scribbler Bern.
Dearest Scribbler
I could write a book addressing the questions raised in your note to would be voters who want to change the government to those perceived as working hard and speaking not in tongues but our own national language. In the US, we have our share of non-states craft like speechifyers - but we also have a few who work at eloquence, a very few unfortunately. It's about writing ability as a rhetorician - they need poets on their staffs to spiff up their speeches. I'm Jus' Sayin' ~(:D) - Lady A
