The Joker and the Thief.

The joker and the thief.

They had so much in common

Each one knew the world could be a threat.

Twins they could have been,

Both knew too the burden of a debt

To be in such a famous song

That even now can do no wrong.

Their only relief was to drink

And find that way outa there.

The watchtower it still stands

Though the princes look away,

While women buy the servants shoes

Who’s tongues they can be heard

Telling tales of those who could not stay.

The inside cats are now at play

But like the wind they howl.

Time it marches on, the way out it was found

Exciting times they reared their head.

Gone was the confusing hour it’s said.

The early dawn it came instead.

Two riders returned as four

Through that fateful hidden door

And Jimi played them home.

Sometimes I do get excited,

And agree that life it can be a joke.

We cannot always see a fire

If there is a billowing smoke.

But don’t you suffer any grief

For the Joker is the Thief

They alone have that power.

To send us all,

All along The Watchtower.

Cheers Bob.
