Big peoples words.
Just out of kindergarten
I thought I had it made.
But Mother was so worried
As I joined the First Grade.
The teacher welcomed us,
Told us to all look forward.
But The only speak that we could talk
Was called big peoples words.
The teacher told a story
About two little birds
Whose mother only let them chirp
With grown up peoples words.
Then we got the point
We were no longer young,
No more baby speak
Was To roll off of our tongue.
We had to leave behind
The baby talk we knew ,
Learn this grown up speak
In everything we do.
So teacher she asked john,
“What do you really like the best ,
When you are home weekends
What makes you most impressed?”
“I like to visit Nana,
More than any other.”
(Then Teacher said)
“You should use a grown up word,
Call her your Grandmother.”
Then Mitchell said his piece
About a big choo choo.
“Don’t you mean a train?”
“It’s grown up words we use.”
Then she glanced at me,
My breath away she took,
“What about you young Richard?”
“Me, I read a book.”
“My word.” the teacher said,
“I think we have a hit,
What book did you read?”
“Come on you must admit.”
“Mmm,I thought and thought a bit.
Still thinking as I sit.
Oh yeah I remember..
Of course..
Winnie The Shit!
I found that to be funny, especially the last line. It was....it was cute.
Hoping you are well. I believe it has been a while.
